County-Wide Little Free Libraries
Expanding Access: Little Free Libraries Across Dorchester County
Dorchester County is the largest county on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. While the library has branches in Cambridge and Hurlock, residents that live in more rural areas of the county may find that a visit to the library will require an hour of driving time—making regular library visits a challenge. We believe that everyone should have access to books and information, so to help bridge this gap, we’re launching the County-Wide Little Free Library Project, bringing free books directly to underserved rural communities.
We’re starting with three locations:
📍 El Dorado Food Mart
📍 Wesley Chapel in Crapo
📍 Church Creek Post Office
These small, weatherproof book-sharing boxes will be stocked with free books to provide access to learning, growing and fun for readers of all ages. Take a book, leave a book, or just enjoy the read—no library card required. With your help, we hope to grow this initiative even further.
If you notice that one of the Little Libraries is running low on stock, if you are interested in providing a space for a Little Free Library, or would like to donate to support this cause, give us a call at 410-228-7331 or 410-943-4331.
Together, we can keep the joy of reading within reach for all.
