3D Printer Terms & Conditions

  1. All 3D printers must be used in accordance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws.

  2. Dorchester County Public Library reserves the right to reject any patron project.

    • Prioritize a request due to time or printer capabilities.

    • Set a limit to the maximum amount of time a print job may take.

    • Use the 3D printing service for programs and activities, making it temporarily unavailable to the public.

    • Charge users for print requests.

    • Limit the number of print requests.

    • Refuse any 3D print request.

  3. Patrons may not use the Library’s 3D Printer services to create objects that:

    • Are harmful, dangerous, or pose a threat to others, such as knives, firearms, or other weapons.

    • Are adult paraphernalia or objects of an obscene or graphic nature which are inappropriate for the library setting.

    • Include hate speech or any project that promotes discrimination or violence.

    • Are prohibited by law.

  4. The Library can print files which are for sale, as long as the patron purchases them first from the file creator. The library cannot purchase files on a patron’s behalf.

  5. Projects made with the 3D Printer will incur a materials fee, based on the amount of plastic used. Patrons may submit files that they have purchased by emailing the Information Desk directly. Fees may be waived at the discretion of the Library Director or 3D Printer manager. Donation of project materials may be accepted in lieu of a materials fee, at the discretion of library staff. Projects are considered property of the Library until payment is rendered. Refunds will not be issued for completed projects.

  6. 3D print projects will be priced at a rate of $0.10 per gram of plastic in the final project, including any printed support material, rounded to the nearest $0.25.

  7. The Library reserves the right to photograph any 3D printed items and use those photographs at our discretion.

  8. The Dorchester County Public Library disclaims any knowledge of any final usage of projects created by the 3D Printer. The Library is not responsible for any harm caused by projects, nor is the Library responsible for any copyright infringement caused by a 3D Printer project.
