About the Department

The Dorchester County Information Department is committed to providing excellent reference services to the public in order to meet the information needs of our community. Our department strives to make information accessible to everyone, in a professional, timely manner. Some of the services we offer include reference interviews, reader’s advisory programming, placing holds for our patrons on items outside our library and larger consortium, as well as help with genealogy and local history projects. Additionally, we offer one-hour computer tutorials (by appointment only) in which one of our librarians will work one-on-one with a patron who needs help with job applications, resumes and cover letters, as well as computer proficiency.


The Information Desk at the Dorchester County Public Library also offers the use of our library’s microfilm reader (Cambridge only), which only requires a current library card registered in one of the eight counties on the Eastern Shore, or a guest pass that can be acquired with photo identification.
