Youth Services and Programs


Youth Department

The Youth Department includes services for children and young adults. The Children's Department provides for children from birth through middle school. The Young Adult Department provides for patrons aged thirteen and up. The library staff will provide early literacy materials, help find new books, and answer questions for the children, teens, and parents who come to the library.

Children's Materials

Children's materials include board books, picture books, easy readers, juvenile fiction and nonfiction, reference books, music CD's, graphic novels, audiobooks, DVDs, and magazines.

Young Adult Materials

Young Adult materials include fiction, informational books, graphic novels, manga, biographies, and magazines.


The Children's Department provides computers with Internet access, online databases, and word processing. A game computer without Internet access is also available at each branch. Young adults, aged thirteen and older, may use the adult computers. See Public-Access Computer Policy under "About the Library" for the Internet policy regarding children and age restrictions.


The Youth Department provides events throughout the year. For information on story times, school visits, teen programs, the summer reading program, and special events call 410-228-7331 and ask for the Children's Desk.
