Children's Department

The Dorchester County Children's Department provides reference service and maintains separate collections specifically for children.

Children's Materials

Children's materials include reference books, CD's, online resources, books (juvenile fiction and nonfiction), audiotapes, videotapes, and magazines.

Computers

The Children's Department provides a computer with Internet access, online databases, CD's, and word processing. Printing is 15 cents per page. See Public-Access Computer Policy under About the Library for age restrictions and our Internet policy regarding children.

Programs

The Children's Department provides programming throughout the year. For information on preschool story times, school class visits, summer reading program, and other special programs for children call 410-228-7331 and ask for the Children's Desk.

The Resource Network

The Resource Network, a project of the Kennedy Krieger Institute, describes its website as a service that gives consumers, families, and professionals access to information on developmental disabilities and resources in Maryland. One may also obtain information by calling 1-800-390-3372.

Thinkport

Thinkport is a resource for Maryland educators, families, and communities from Maryland Public Television and Johns Hopkins University Center for Technology in Education.
