Adult Materials

Adult library materials include reference books, online databases, CD Roms, books (adult fiction and nonfiction), audiotapes, videotapes, magazines, newspapers, and Maryland Room books and microfilm.

Other materials such as Federal and Maryland income tax forms, financial aid forms, and ACT applications are also supplied to patrons.

Reserves

If the book you want is not in, or is a new book and on order, we can place a reserve on it and you'll get the next available copy.

Patrons can place their own reserves on books or audiotapes that are checked out, by using the library's catalog terminals or logging into the catalog from our home page. After finding the record of the item, choose Select at the bottom of the screen, type in the digits in your library bar code number after the zeros, then the last four digits of your phone number, verify your name and address information by yes, and choose the number of the location where you'll pick up the item. You will be notified when the material is returned and ready for you to pick up.

Interlibrary Loan

Library users have access to the collections of other Maryland libraries through interlibrary loan service. Call 410-228-7331 or stop at the Adult Services Desk to request ILL materials. The Eastern Shore Regional Library and Maryland Interlibrary Loan Organization provide this service.

You may search other Maryland public library catalogs through MARINA and make requests, using your library card number for access. The librarians have access to additional resources, so if your initial search is unsuccessful, please call or come to the library for assistance.

Book Discussions

Thanks to Delmarva Discussions and funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the library regularly hosts series of book discussions on various themes. Usually five books comprise a series (all are provided for loan), and the group meets every other week for a two-hour discussion at the Cambridge or Hurlock Branches.

Some topics of prior series have included: The Chesapeake Bay End of an Era, Since Sherlock Holmes: a Hundred years of Detective Fiction, Not for Children Only: Classic Fairy Tales, and many others. For information about upcoming book talks, call 410-228-7331.

Meeting Room

A meeting room is available for use by community groups. To reserve the room, complete the necessary form* and fax it to library (410.228.6313). Or contact the Adult Services Desk at 410-228-7331.
* The form is a pdf (Portable Document Format) file and you need Adobe Reader to view and print.
